Steve and I met back in October 2007 while attending Georgia Southern University. He was in the ROTC program with a good friend of mine, Matt Penn. A group of us, including Matt, did weekly dinner nights where we would trade off cooking dinner. One night as I was cooking dinner at Matt's apartment(the common apartment for the group), Steve was over for a study session with Matt. We were introduced. I was so busy stressing over my burnt rice that I didn't think much of the introduction, but apparently Steve asked Matt about me.
The following weekend, we went out to celebrate a friend's birthday and ended up at Steve's house for an after party. Steve asked me to dance multiple times that night, but since no one else was dancing, I declined. Poor Steve. The next Sunday, Steve had joined our dinner group and had us over to his house for dinner. I brought a movie to watch afterwards, and conveniently, every one had to leave for one reason or another. Steve and I watched the movie, and as he walked me out to the car asked me out on our first date.
Fast forward 2 years and Steve proposed in October 2009 with our friends and families present overlooking the river in Savannah, GA. Steve graduated in December 2009 and went on to officer's training course in Fort Lee, VA. I stayed back and finished my degree and graduated in May 2010. We married in September 2010 in Madison Square in Savannah. Steve deployed to Iraq 6 days after we were married. While he was gone, I adopted Tank, our golden retriever. He returned in December 2010, and we enjoyed our life in Savannah, GA.
We added the newest addition to our family in August 2012, when our sweet daughter, Sadie, was born. Four weeks after she was born, Steve deployed to Afghanistan. He returned in June 2013 and completed our family again.
We moved from Savannah, GA to Fort Lee, VA (near Richmond) in January 2014. We lived there for six months as my husband completed his Captains Career Course.
In August 2014, we took an unexpected twist and moved to Daegu, South Korea. We are currently in Korea as a family and are enjoying watching our lives unfold here. We will be here for two years and look forward to sharing our adventure with you!
