What you need to know first, is that when we first moved in, the builders put in new sod. Well, this sod did not catch on at all, so about 2 months ago, they replaced the backyard sod completely! I felt awful ripping up this beautiful new sod that was finally starting to look good, but for the space we are going to have, it will be well worth it... I hope!
This was our yard before the builder's re-sodded.
So in order to get started, we had to measure out the space. We decided a 10 ft x 16 ft patio to add extra space on the side for the Grill. We started by measuring it out and staked it off. Steve then connected each stake with a string, outlining the area. To make sure we had the angles correct, we measured 3 ft down one side of the string and 4 ft down the other. Making a mark at each measurement, we measured diagonally across to these marks. If the diagonal measured 5ft, then we hit 90 degrees spot on!
After we measured, Steve spray painted along the grass for guidance.
Finally, Steve started ripping out the sod, and I scooped it up behind him and placed it in the wheel barrow. After working for an hour or two in 100 degree weather, I had to go inside while Steve finished it up. And this is what we are left with now.
Steve working hard in 100 degree heat.
Almost there!
Calling it a night!
Next
until next time,
Kacie
