I have a seen a few recipes on Pinterest about homemade dog treats. I love baking and I love using my new KitchenAid even more, so I thought I would give them a try. I found this recipe on Pinterest from
One Good Thing By Jillee. As always, I made a few changes for myself. Here is the recipe.
Ingredients:
- 2 cups flour (I used whole wheat flour)
- 1 cup wheat germ
- 1 cup pumpkin
- 1/2 cup water
- 1/2 tbsp cinnamon
- 2 tbsp vegetable oil
- 2 tbsp honey (I estimated this, because we all know how sticky honey gets measuring)
- 2 tbsp peanut butter
Directions:
- Preheat oven to 325 degrees.
- Add all ingredients to a medium-sized mixing bowl and mix until well combined.
- Roll out the dough on a well-floured surface to about 1/4-inch thick. Using a cookie cutter, cut into shapes.
- Place cookies on ungreased parchment lined baking sheet and bake for 30-35 minutes.

Mix it all up! |

Note: I did not have a bone shaped cookie cutter, although this would be cute! I just used an egg shaped one I had on hand. |

Ready to go into the oven. |

Cooling. |

Waiting patiently. |
I love this recipe. It was easy to make. Sadie even helped pour ingredients into the bowl. And I love that they are healthy for my dog (and for my child when she sneaks a bite... yuck!).
