I was recently sitting in a group during a women's bible study when a friend mentioned the book "The Best Yes" by Lysa TerKeurst.
I knew I had stretched myself thin in the past six months. I had a brand new baby. Along with my 3.5 year old. I own my own business. I was volunteering with two different church organizations. My daughter was taking Ballet and Gymnastics after her daily preschool. I was the FRG leader to my husbands unit.
I may have taken on a bit much. You see. I like to be busy. I thrive off being busy. I do my best when I'm busy. But maybe THAT busy wasn't the best choice after having a newborn baby in a foreign country with no family around.
So I knew I needed to read this book. My friend graciously let me borrow it.
And it got me. I found myself nodding along agreeing with so many things that she was saying.
It's not about saying "Yes" to everything. It's about finding the "Best Yes" so save our time and energy. It's about learning to say "no." And it's okay to say no. It's about listening to God to find out what YOUR Best Yes is.
I wholeheartedly recommend this book to anyone like me that tends to say "Yes" a lot. Anyone that has a hard time saying no. That tends to take a little too much on their plate. Or even someone that is confused about figuring out when you should say Yes or No.
It's a pretty quick read, and a great read for all the mama's out there that are starting to become involved in their child's schooling and extracurricular activities.
Pick it up, check it out, and let me know what you think below!
