Random Fact: The Stomach flu can be contagious for up to TWO WEEKS after you feel better. Seriously?! There is like no stopping it. You can't stay housebound for that long.
All I can say ya'll is WASH YOUR HANDS. Even then, you still can't fight against it ALL the time, especially with the littles. So.. for all of us that are normally health... just think about it as strengthening your immune system.
I will say, through the no energy and churning stomach, that I can however let you know how I got through it and came out on top.
Activated Charcoal
This stuff may sound funny. But I promise it works. I always take it at the first sign of an upset stomach. Think of it as the "natural tums." It calms the acid in my stomach. No, it's not the same charcoal you put on your grill.
On a side note: Keep this in stock... it's not easy to find and you don't want to have to hunt it down with a stomach flu. I got mine at Whole Foods, but you can also order online.
Fun Fact: You can also use it for face masks and whitening your teeth!
Water
Lots and lots and lots of water. Need I say more?
I enjoyed sipping on Sparkling water to help calm my stomach also.
Green Tea
Green tea has an anti-inflammatory property to it. It helps sooth the stomach and makes you feel better in general.
Essential Oils
I'm still new to this one. I haven't ventured out to try them orally yet, but I did defuse a mixture of Peppermint, Lemon, and Copaiba .
Peppermint helps with the efficiency of the digestive tract. And can sooth an upset stomach when taken orally.
Lemon is nice and refreshing. It gives you that nice and clean feeling when you can just feel everything covered with germs.
Copaiba promotes wellness, especially when taken internally.
Shakeology
Finally, for any of my ShakeO drinkers out there (or those who haven't tried it yet)... when I was finally starting to feel better, I made sure to get my Shakeology in. I knew my body could get all the nutrients, vitamins, superfoods, and PROBIOTICS it could get. After drinking it each day, I actually had a some energy to get stuff done.
I also added a boost of Digestive Health to mine. This boost contains both soluble and insoluble fiber. Most fiber substitutes only contain the soluble kind, but our body needs both!
I hope this helps and that you found these tips to stock your cabinet, before this nasty virus came to you!
I'm off to enjoy this beautiful Thursday and be thankful for my good health!
