Cinco de Mayo: The Perfect Margarita

Happy Cinco de Mayo! There's nothing I like more than a little reason to party and no party is better than a fiesta! If you're looking for fiesta ideas, check out the fiesta wedding shower I hosted just a few weeks ago.

Today, I thought I'd bring you my favorite part of fiesta's... the drinks! Well one drink to be exact. I love a good Margarita. I'm also VERY picky about my margaritas. No crappy pre-mixed stuff for me. When my husband started making this Margarita for me, I'll admit I've become a bit of a Margarita snob. Thanks honey! But seriously, try this and you will too.

Ingredients:

Limes
Ice
100% Tres Agaves Organic Agave Nector
Tequila, I prefer Cazadores Reposado, because it is 100% pure agave tequila

(Fun fact: Agave is the plant that tequila comes from. Any tequila that does not say 100% Agave is actually a blend of Tequila and some other form of alcohol.)

Step 1: Squeeze the juice from your limes. It taste much better with fresh squeeze lime juice.
Step 2: Measure out 1 part lime juice, 1 part Agave Nector, and 2 parts Tequila into your Mixer.
Step 3: Add Ice to the mixer and shake!
Step 4: Pour into desired glass.
Step 5: ENJOY!

It's that simple people. Not only is it easy to make, but it's all real ingredients. Try this out, you will love it and never look back.

On a side note, if you're wondering about that big ball of ice in our Margarita glass, know that it's amazing. You can purchase the ice mold on Amazon. We love them because the ice doesn't hit your face as your drinking and it doesn't water down your drink.

Fiesta Wedding Shower

The weekend is over and the shower is done. We had a blast putting it together and it couldn't have turned out better. I am so very pleased with all the decorations and in traditional Mexican style, we had WAY too much food. My only regret is that I didn't get to take enough pictures. My sweet aunt was nice enough to take a few for me while I was scurrying to finish the setup as people arrived.

My wonderful mother was sweet enough to let us host the shower at her house, since I am currently living in Virginia. She has a beautiful home and the perfect layout for parties. And I took full advantage of her large back porch in this beautiful weather.

Our 7-layer Bean Dip was a hit. Everyone complimented on it. I found the recipe here.

These Margarita Cupcakes really did taste like Margaritas. There were a few kids running around the party, so I made mine non-alcoholic. I found the recipe here.

I love the way we displayed the Southwest Ranch Dip.

We had the taco bar catered by a local Mexican restaurant. It was very inexpensive and we still had WAY too much food. My advice would be to put your catering number in for half the amount of people you are expecting when serving Mexican.

And of course, we had tissue balls all over the house. I made some big, but my favorite was grouping the small ones. They were so easy to make. I found a tutorial here

The bar menu was displayed on a chalkboard.

Favors were Mexican Wedding Cookies. I found the recipe here. I printed on small paper favor bags. Here is the printable and tutorial. And I printed off a printable to go in the frame.

This is the only good photo of the back porch I have. It was decorated beautifully! We had hanging flags, tissue balls, and a D in the center for the happy couple's new initial. Tables were covered with bright colored table clothes with bright flowers in red and yellow Mexican-style vases.

We had a sombrero for each the bride and groom while they were opening gifts.

And you can't have a fiesta without a piñata! The bride and groom got to break it open and it was filled with mini-bottles. Who doesn't love a good piñata?!

Well there you have it. As I said, you live and you learn. I will be much better prepared next time, in order to take good photos before everyone arrives. I hope you enjoyed and got some of your own ideas for a Cinco de Mayo party!

Fiesta Sneak Peak!

Happy Monday! I am traveling back to Fort Lee, VA today, so I will be in the car the majority of the day.  It was another successful weekend and the Fiesta Wedding shower couldn't have gone better. I was so pleased with the decorations and set up. Of course, we had WAY too much food and my husband will be excited to see me coming home with leftovers. We'll be eating tacos and fajita's for days!

I am so excited to post about it, but don't have much time this morning as I'm packing up the car. So instead, here is a little sneak peak!

Who doesn't love tissue balls? I was so pleased with how they turned out, how easy they are to make, and how much color they bring to the room.

Stay tuned for me!

Fiesta!

My sweet cousin is getting married in just over two short months. We are less than two years apart in age and grew up together. She's the closest thing I have to a sister. She was my Maid of Honor and I am so excited to be her Matron of Honor.

This Saturday, her Maid of Honor and I am throwing her a couple's wedding shower. We are so excited for it and have been working hard. We decided quite a while ago to do a fiesta theme and I can't wait to see it all come together. With Cinco de Mayo less than a month away, I thought I would share a few ideas we've found for the fiesta. I plan on sharing a post of the actual shower after the fact, so today is all about the inspiration we've used!
